Bali Location and attraction

Karangasem is Bali's Eastern most regency, and its gate to the Lesser sunda Islands across the Lombok strait, which is a busy international sea lane. The most famous beach of Karangasem though, is Candi Dasa, a laid-back holiday resort at the eastern end of Amuk Bay, a good centre for snorkelling and diving with a wide choice of accommodation and restaurants to suit every taste and every pocket. It;s also a pleasant base from which to explore the east of bali, with easy road access to many of the main sights.
Jimbaran is a sleepy cove where fleets of fishing boats abound. This was once a very quiet area In the last couple of years, it has become even more busy, as grilled seafood restaurants have sprung up at a rapid pace along the beach, attracting many visitors.
Candidasa Bali lies on the beachfront in Manggis, about 65 kilometers from Denpasar, is about two hours driving from the Ngurah Rai International Airport. A nearby temple houses important archaeological remains, including figurines and statues, thus accounting for the area's popularity among tourists. Candidasa is a beautiful place to feel the other parts of Bali. Most hotels in Candidasa are situated near the beach.Unfortunately the beach is not suitable for swimming.
Canggu Bali, a new virgin tourism area in Bali, is located about 15 minutes driving from central Kuta. Canggu is developed as a positive impact of development progress in Kuta area and surroundings. However, you can also walk along the beach line of Kuta and Seminyak to the north and you will find Canggu. Visitors will find this place quiet, tranquil, and beautiful. Some prefer staying at this area, more than just a best alternative after Kuta and Seminyak.
Kintamani Bali Situated on the rim of an active volcano, Mount Batur, Kintamani Village overlooks the spectacular crater lake of Lake Batur. Kintamani is a great place for day trips, trekking, or hiking. At
Penelokan you can view the panorama of Mount Batur set in a huge volcanic crater basin. You may stop there on your way to Singaraja to climb the peaceful Pura Tegeh Kuripan. Exploring Kintamani while watching the sunrise is fun too. In addition to the sunrise, you can also see the beautiful Lake Batur it is about two kilometers down the Penelokan. Several restaurants on the rim offer a wonderful uninhibited vantage point to soak up the breathtaking vista.
Bangli bali, this Southern rice growing area, is one of the most enticing of the island, especially if one walks off main roads to the discovery of village lanes and ricefields. The magical charm of Bali is all there; clutter of shrines in midst of ricefields, alignment of brick gates in the village streets and the looming presence of the tall pule and giant banyan tree.
Klungkung bali , also known by its older name of Semarapura, is a bustling trading town, with plenty of things to see. Its highlights are the remains of the royal palace, collectively known as the Taman Gili, which include the ancient Kerta Gosa painted ceiling. Except for a few beaches and landscapes those of Nusa Penida are treated in another section most of Klungkung's interest lies in its historical heritage.
Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan ; Nusa Lembongan is sheltered by offshore coral reefs which provide excellent snorkelling and create the perfect conditions for seaweed farming. The tiny island of Nusa Ceningan, 4km long by 1km wide, is essentially a hill sticking out of the water, located picturesquely between Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida. Nusa Penida is too dry to cultivate rice, and while you'll see maize, cassava, beans and tobacco in the fields during the rainy season. The cluster of three island off East Bali, have their own character and charm.

The monastery, a blend of Balinese and mainland Southeast Asian architecture, offers a stunning panorama down to the sea. True to its surf heritage Kuta has many small, inexpensive hotels as well as larger hotels with all the bells and whistles. To the north of the Bukit peninsula is the popular beach resort of Kuta. Here lies an idyllic white sand beach with crashing waves, complemented by a small yet majestic temple. This temple, known as Pura Tanah Lot, juts out to sea on a rocky background. Tanah Lot attracts throngs of both locals and tourists daily.

Kuta's claim to fame owes much to two things: its beach (originally Bali's best) and the sunset.
Seminyak Bali is a village at the south coast of Bali. It has a high number of resident foreigners and has become a center of Indonesian handicraft business. In addition to being a major handicraft center, Seminyak is a Balinese village that is still deeply rooted in its old traditions. Seminyak has gradually coming up with its own as an area to be considered with. The velocity of Bali has set up by the area’s vigorous nightclubs along with effervescent range of hotels and restaurants. Therefore, the area might be your next destination after you do all things you can do in Kuta.

Festival and Ceremony in Bali

In Bali island an estimated 20,000 temples (pura) on the island, each of which holds festivals (odalan) at least twice a year and there are many other auspicious days throughout the year, meaning that there are always festivities going on. Bali Island is some large festivals celebrated islandwide, but their dates are determined by two local calendars. The 210-day wuku or Pawukon calendar is completely out of sync with the Western calendar, meaning that it rotates wildly throughout the year. The lunar saka (caka) calendar roughly follows the Western year.
Funerals festival, called pitra yadnya, are another occasion of pomp and ceremony, when the deceased (often several at a time) are ritually cremated in extravagantly colorful rituals. Galungan festival . A 10-day festival celebrating the death of the tyrant Mayadenawa. Gods and ancestors visit earth and are greeted with gift-laden bamboo poles called penjor lining the streets. The last day of the festival is known as Kuningan.
Nyepi festival, or Hindu New Year, usually March/April . This is the one festival worth avoiding: on Nyepi, also known as the Day of Absolute Silence, absolutely everything on the island is shut down and tourists are confined to their hotels. However if you are in Bali in the weeks preceding Nyepi you will see amazing colourful giants (Ogoh Ogoh) being created by every banjar throughout the island. On Nyepi Eve the Ogoh Ogoh are paraded through the streets, an amazing sight, not to be missed especially in Denpasar. Ogoh Ogoh Nyepi is a very special day to the Balinese as this is the day that they have to fool all evil spirits that no-one is actually on Bali - hence the need for silence. If this can be achieved, then it is believed that the evil spirits will go looking elsewhere for their prey and leave Bali island alone for another year. Balinese people are very religious and life is full of ritual - Nyepi is one of the most important days in their calendar. Police and security are on hand to make sure that everyone abides by this rule. Nyepi also serves to remind the Balinese of the need for tolerance and understanding in their everyday life.
Another festival or ceremony is Traditional Balinese cremation ceremony also known as ngaben or pelebon. This practice is considered essential if the 5 elements making up the microcosm of the human body are to be returned to their original residence, the universe’s macrocosm. A Balinese cremation can be an amazing, spectacular, colourful, noisy and exciting event. In fact it often takes so long to organize a cremation that years have passed since the death. During that time the body is temporarily buried. Of course an auspicious day must be chosen for the cremation and since a big cremation can be very expensive business many less wealthy people may take the opportunity of joining in at a larger cremation and sending their own dead on their way at the same time.

Bali Climate, Culture and Arts

Bali is famous for many forms of art, including painting, sculpture, woodcarving, crafter Silver sterling or gold, handcrafts, puppetry and performing arts. Barong dance or "lion dance", this is a ritual dance depicting the fight between good and evil, with performers wearing fearsome lion-like masks
Kecak dance or "monkey dance" is with lots of dancers in concentric circles chanting "kecak kecak", while a performer in the center acts out a spiritual dance, others famous Balinese dances include pendet, legong, baris, topeng and etc.

Bali Culture. Bali Islands is a place of Hindu religion and culture, although Balinese Hinduism is so far removed from the original Indian variety that the casual eye will be hard put to spot any similarities. Every aspect of Balinese life is suffused with religion, but the most visible signs are the tiny offerings (sesajen) of flowers, glutinous rice and salt in little bamboo leaf trays, found in every Balinese house, restaurant, souvenir stall and airport check-in desk. They are set out and sprinkled with holy water no less then three times a day, before every meal.
Bali Climate : Rice fields, UbudBali is always warm, humid and tropical. The April-October dry season and November-March rainy seasons are only relative, with plenty of rainfall around the year, but the Balinese winter is cloudier, more humid and with a higher chance of thunderstorms. A more important consideration is the tourist season, as Bali can get packed in July-August and again around Christmas and New Year's. Australians also visit during school holidays in early April, late June and late September, while Indonesians visit during national holidays. Outside these peaks, Bali can be surprisingly quiet and good discounts on accommodation are often available.
